On 23 April, Jane Suiter and Eileen Culloty were invited to speak to the Global Shapers 'Meet the Leaders Series Dublin' on responding to Covid-19 disinformation.
The Global Shapers is an initiative of the World Economic Forum, consisting of a network of young people driving dialogue, action and change across the globe. The Meet the leaders series aims to connect Global Shapers with leaders from various sectors in order to learn from their personal journeys and to gain insight into key issues affecting Ireland, Europe and the world.
Members sought advice on practical steps to reduce the spread of false information. Drawing on their insights from Provenance, Jane and Eileen outlined key issues surrounding online disinformation and the efforts of the Provenance project to counteract it.
We have joined forces with Global Shapers hubs from across Europe to tackle misinformation around COVID-19. Over the next weeks we will share fact-checked information about key topics concerning the virus. Stay tuned and help stop the spread! #IknowCOVID19 #stopthespread pic.twitter.com/UnVhaBpMGI
