The Graz University of Technology (Technische Universität Graz; TUGraz) was founded in 1811, formerly as the educational organization Joanneum; the University has over 2,500 employees and serves over 12,000 students. The Institute of Interactive Systems and Data Science (ISDS; head is Prof. Stefanie Lindstaedt) at the TUGraz was recently established as merging of the Knowledge Technologies Institute (KTI) and the Institute for Information Systems and Computer Media (IICM). The main focus of this institute lies on user interface research, information systems, data science and big data research, virtual reality applications, and technology-enhanced learning. Despite a strong focus on technology and informatics, it also undertakes interdisciplinary research taking into account human factors, integrating technological aspects, application-oriented perspectives, and cognitive and social science aspect.
